“Paying council tax by direct debit ensures that this money is received without delay. However, this payment method may not be suitable for everyone and those who do not have direct debit should watch our letter with details on how to get their refund.

“We will also have to ask some residents for new information, so that we can make this payment to them. The team will ask certain eligible residents who are not already paying by direct debit to provide us with their bank details which we will then need to verify and store securely.
“The government has also said that we are not allowed to automatically make a payment when the name on the bank account and the name on the council tax account do not match – even when we have successfully collected council tax. dwelling. In these cases, we will write to residents to confirm the bank account to be used for payment.
“There are a lot of checks and balances to do, but if you are eligible for that refund payment, don’t worry, we’ll make sure you don’t miss it and get it. We want every person who is entitled to this rebate receives it.
