Police responded to Slyman’s Tavern on the afternoon of January 3, where they encountered a Bedford Heights woman who said she used her CashApp credit card to make a takeout purchase shortly after noon. After she left, she received an alert that someone had subsequently made two unauthorized purchases on her card for $62 and $50, and realized she did not have the card.
Officers reviewed video that showed a 29-year-old Cleveland woman working at the counter and shopping, which she initially denied, then admitted to having done after being taken to the police station, saying that she was hungry. She also said she left the victim’s card in the cash register, although the police did not find it there.
The case was forwarded to detectives and the village prosecutor to seek a direct indictment by a Cuyahoga County grand jury, with the suspect granted a courtesy walk to Pinecrest.

Police responded to the Extended Stay North on January 5, where management turned over a loaded Glock 9mm handgun that a Sidney, Ohio man, 56, had accidentally left in his room when he checked out on December 30 . He was supposed to pick up the next day at the motel, but didn’t. The manager was no longer able to keep it, so the owner came to the police station soon after and got it.
