More than £3.5 million of the £150 energy tax rebate has been paid to 23,598 eligible households in West Lancashire.
West Lancashire Borough Council has so far paid customers who pay council tax by direct debit. Now, the second phase of the discount for non-DD customers will now be rolled out across the borough.
How to claim your rebate:
If you are one of the remaining 16,000 eligible households who do not pay your council tax by direct debit, you will soon receive a letter providing you with all the information you need to make your claim so that we can pay the £150 to your account. banking. You will need to complete an online form, which will be available on the Council’s website once the letters have been sent. Letters will start being issued on July 22 and payments will arrive in accounts within 14 days of submitting your application.
Councilor Adam Yates, portfolio holder for Resources, Transformation, People and Economic Regeneration, said: “We really appreciate our customers’ patience while we wait for their £150 energy discount. Delivering this project was a complex logistical problem that presented significant hurdles. to many local communities.
“We had to acquire, install and test new software to allow us to offer a discount on the energy bill through the council tax system. As the payments are on a large scale, we also had to ensure that payments are secure and at low risk of fraud – the scale of the task was immense.
“Our agents have been constantly working hard behind the scenes to move this project forward as quickly as possible and I am truly delighted that we are now able to secure this much needed payment for our residents.”
The fastest and safest way to receive your payment is to complete the online form. However, help is available for residents who may need assistance by completing the online form by calling customer services on 01695 577177 and selecting option 3.
West Lancashire Borough Council said: “We are currently experiencing a high volume of incoming calls and you may experience a delay before your call is answered. We would like to apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause you. “
The government has set a deadline for councils to ensure that all payments are made by September 30, 2022. So if you receive a letter, please do not delay in claiming your refund.
