There are dozens of great credit card deals out there, and choosing the right one is essential. maximize potential benefits it could come from the use of your card.
Find the right one credit card can actually be tricky with so many different options, but these are the three steps I took to find the perfect credit card to meet my needs.
1. I evaluated my consumption habits
There is no such thing as a âperfectâ card for every consumer, because the right card for each person depends on their own consumption habits. Specifically, it’s important to find a card that offers bonus rewards for the types of purchases you spend the most on.
For example, I don’t travel a lot at the moment because I have a small child, but I spend a lot on races, so a card that offered bonus points for airline flights would not suit me. But, the one that offers additional rewards for shopping at the grocery store is an ideal choice.
To decide which card best suited my needs, I looked at my spending habits over the past few months by reviewing past credit card statements. I saw where most of my money was going and decided to look for a card that would give me bonus rewards on this type of purchase.
2. I decided what kind of rewards I wanted
Cards offer different types of rewards, including cash back or points that can be redeemed for merchandise, or miles that can be applied to travel purchases. I thought carefully about which rewards I would be most happy to receive and decided that I would rather have cash back than something else.
This would give me the greatest flexibility in what I do with my rewards, and I didn’t want to be forced to use them for specific purposes like traveling or buying consumer goods. I prefer to take the money and be able to use it to meet my current needs.
3. I looked for the cards that offered the best value for money
Once I decided which types of rewards I was looking for and which bonus categories were the most important, I began the process of finding cards.
I limited my search to cash back cards since these were the rewards that I was interested in earning. I then looked for the cards that offered the most cash back rewards for groceries. By taking this approach, I was able to earn lots of credit card rewards and use them in the most beneficial way possible.
Anyone who wants to find the perfect credit card should consider following these three steps. Of course, you can also consider other factors depending on your situation. I don’t have a balance, for example, so I didn’t care about interest rates – but if you think you might not pay your bill in full, you might want to prioritize looking for a card. with a low APR.
The key is to find a card that fits your specific needs well, offers the rewards you are looking for, and gives you the most rewards possible in your main spending areas. If you do this you can find the perfect card for you just like I did.
