Ukrainian man gets 5 years for role in $1 billion credit card fraud

By Ivan Moreno (April 7, 2022, 8:55 p.m. EDT) – A Ukrainian hacker belonging to a cybercrime group responsible for allegedly stealing information on millions of credit and debit cards was sentenced to a federal sentence on Thursday five years for his role in an international case. enterprise criminal prosecutors have called it “one of the top cybersecurity threats” to US retailers, restaurants and the hospitality industry.

Denys Iarmak’s sentencing by Chief U.S. District Judge Ricardo Martinez in the Western District of Washington also includes a $2 million restitution order after his November guilty plea to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and conspiracy with a view to committing computer hacking.
